Examples of Tours

Explore Botswana does not offer any standard trips, but makes tailor-made trips based on your personal situation and wishes.

In order to give you a good impression of the possibilities we present a few examples of possible tours. This can be a camping trip or a trip with luxury lodges or a mix of both. These are just examples, but can always be used as a blueprint for creating your own personal travel proposal.

It concerns the following examples of possible tours:

Example Tour 1 -  Adventurous camping trip Botswana starting in Maun
Duration: approximatey 20 days

It is possible to fly, usually with a stop-over in Johannesburg RSA, to Maun in Botswana. After arrival in Maun you will receive your 4x4 vehicle and from that moment your adventurous journey really starts. When you chose for a camping trip in the remote National Parks of Botswana, then Maun is the perfect place for shopping, because you will be more or less self-suficient. From Maun you will travel to the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. This National Park is located south from Maun and can be reached via Rakops. After visiting the Central Kalahari Game Reserve the trip continues to the Makgadikgadi NP. This is the place to stay before you continue your journey to the Nxai Pan. The next stop for filling up and doing shopping is called Nata. Here you can relax again and enjoy the luxury of a normal bed at a nice accommodation, although camping is also possible. The next destination is Kasane, directly located at the border of Chobe NP, where thousands of elephants have their home. You can also visit Chobe from by boat from this place. It is really amazing what you will discover! Are you adventurous and prepared enough, then you can cross Chobe NP via the Savuti marshes en head for the wild Moremi NP via the river Kwhai. After a few days stay in this unspoilt area you continue to Maun  again, where the trip will come to an end. It is of course possible to have a mix of camping based on the ratio you want and the budget you have.

Example Tour 2 -  Accommodation trip Caprivi / Botswana / Zimbabwe (Victoria Falls) starting in Maun
Duration: approximatey 15 days

The Caprivi strip a beautiful water-rich area in the Nort-east of Namibia. It can perfectly be combined with a visit to the magnificent National Parks of Botswana such as Chobe NP, Moremi NP and the Okavango Delta. Via the unspoilt national parks in the Caprivi strip, like Mahango NP, Mudumu NP and Mamili NP you will arrive at the Ngoma borderpost with Botswana. After approximately 100 km's you arrive in safari capital Kasane. This is the main starting point to discover the world famous National Park Chobe, where thousands of Elephants live. From here you can also visit the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe or Zambia. After a few days of enjoying this area you will continue your trip to Maun, where you will visit another highlight of Botswana, called Moremi NP and the well-known Okavango Delta.

Example Tour 3 -  Combination trip Namibia/ Bostwana / Zimbabwe (Victoria Falls) starting in Windhoek
Duration: approximatey 21 days

Namibia can perfectly be combined with your Botswana trip. Via the beautiful and unspoilt Caprivi strip in the North East of Namibia you go to the Ngoma borderpost with Botswana. After approximately 100 km's you arrive in safari capital Kasane. This is the main starting point to discover the world famous National Park Chobe. After a few days you continue your trip to Maun, where you will visit another highlight of Botswana, called Moremi NP and the well-known Okavango Delta.
